The Rarámuri people, also known as the Tarahumara, are indigenous people who live in the state of Chihuahua in northern Mexico. They have gained global recognition for their remarkable running abilities. However, their story is much more profound and complex than this single aspect. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive perspective of their culture and history, highlighting how various forces have impacted their lives and land. It is important to acknowledge that while there are athletes with extraordinary abilities, their portrayal in popular culture often glamorizes their lives. In reality, there is much more to their experiences than meets the eye, and we hope to shed light on the lesser-known aspects of their story. To accomplish this, we’ll immerse ourselves in the world of the Raramuri to capture their story.
